JOBSEEKERS

Q | How do I post a resume so that I can begin searching for employment?
There are two options available on Joborilla.ca for posting resumes. The first is to sign up and create a profile. When you are logged in and have clicked on the 'profile' tab you will be given the option to enter information to build a resume and profile content for employers to view. Joborilla.ca will automatically compile this information into a professional quality resume that you can print off and use as a resume to mail to employers. We recommend entering your resume information on your profile as it allows us to offer you more relevant job suggestions and it is easier for employers to view your information to see if you would be a good candidate for their current opening.

If you already have a resume and would prefer to upload it 'as is' you may upload it by creating an account and then logging in. Once you are logged in you will see your homepage. At the top right of this page is a section where you can choose to upload new resumes. You will also be able to edit or delete any previous resumes that you have posted through this section of the page.

If you are having technical problems uploading or creating a resume, email us at info@joborilla.ca with the subject heading 'Resume Support' and a description of the problem. We will look into the issue and get back to you.

Q | How do I "copy and paste" my resume from another file?
1. Open the file that contains your resume.
2. Press ctrl+A (PC) or command+A (Mac) to select all of the text.
3. Press ctrl+C (PC) or command+C (Mac) to copy the resume.
4. Next, click inside the box on the website that say "Paste resume below:" and press ctrl+V (PC) or command+V (Mac) to paste the resume.

Q | What file formats can I use to upload my resume?
Joborilla.ca is configured to accept only .pdf, .doc, or .docx file formats. If you do not have your resume in any of these formats try copying and pasting your resume to the website by following the directions in the question above.

Q | Does it cost money to post a resume?
It is free for Jobseekers to post resumes. You may post up to 3 different resumes, which can be managed at the top of your Jobseeker homepage. To improve your odds of being hired we suggest purchasing a featured job seeker advertisement that will appear on our homepage and logged in employer webpages.

Q | What's the difference between a public and a private resume?
If you choose to set your resume privacy level to 'public', all employers will be able to view your resume without obtaining your prior consent. Although this may improve your chances of being contacted by employers, you should use this feature at your own risk. If your resume contains information that you do wish to be available for anyone to view then you should set you resume privacy level to 'private'. Setting the privacy level to 'private' makes your resume viewable only to those employers who have received an application from you.

Q | What happens when I delete a resume?
If you delete your resume you will be unable to retrieve it. Joborilla.ca permanently removes that resume from the website. For legal reasons however, Joborilla.ca retains a copy of all resumes uploaded to the site for a period of up to two years. These resumes are no longer available to website users, but will be held in a Joborilla.ca database. Please note that if you have previously provided employers on the website with the resume that you deleted, that copy of the resume may still be held by the employer.

Q | How do I search for jobs?
Searching for jobs has never been easier. Click the 'Search Jobs' button on the homepage to view all of the job postings on Joborilla.ca. Clicking this button will take you to a page that allows you to browse the most recent postings. You will also notice a "Job Filter" on the left side of the search page. You may use this filter to quickly and easily narrow down your job search. A feature known as Auto-browsing can be enabled in your settings. With this feature enabled, Joborilla.ca literally scans the postings for you to locate careers that you are qualified to do. This will save you from having to read through countless postings and will increase your chances of finding employment!

Q | How do I save a job posting?
Occasionally you may find a job that interests you, but you are not yet ready to apply. Joborilla.ca allows registered users to save job postings so that they may return to them later on to submit their application. Registered users are able to click on the save search icon in the job posting they wish to save to add it to the saved searches section of the Jobseeker homepage.

Q | How can I e-mail a copy of a job posting to a friend?

Q | How do I print a job posting?
After clicking on a job posting you will see several actions listed at the top of the page. Click on the printer icon to print the job posting.

Q | Why isn't the salary information available for all jobs?
Sometimes employers choose not to disclose salaries until individuals have applied for the position. Entering salaries when posting jobs is optional at Joborilla.ca and thus some job postings will not display this information.

Q | How do I apply for jobs?
The goal of Joborilla.ca is to deliver the most efficient job application service available on the web. Every job posting that accepts online applications will have a button in the top right corner of the job posting that will allow you to submit your resume to the corresponding employer. Click this button then choose a resume to submit to the employer and you are finished! Some employers may prefer to receive faxed resumes or resumes that are delivered to them via mail or in person. If this is the case, the Apply Now button will not be displayed and the employer's application preferences will be clearly stated in the job posting.

Q | How do I find out when interesting jobs are advertised?
Joborilla.ca may at times send e-mail to our Jobseekers to alert them of potential career options. Note: Joborilla.ca will never ask for any personal information from you in these e-mails. If you are interested in applying to a position do so by visiting Joborilla.ca.

Q | Does Joborilla.ca ensure that all job postings are legitimate?
Safety of our users is our number one concern. It is clearly stated in the Terms and Conditions set forth by Joborilla.ca that users are prohibited from posting fake or malicious job postings. Joborilla.ca will attempt to remove false advertisements, but cannot guarantee that all job postings are indeed legitimate. As the applicant or Jobseeker you are ultimately responsible for the information that you choose to disclose to prospective Employers. It is recommended that you read through the Privacy Policy of Joborilla.ca to learn how to better protect yourself from those looking to take advantage of our users. If you come across a posting that appears to be in violation of the Joborilla.ca Terms and Conditions please inform us at info@joborilla.ca .

Q | What happens when I click the 'Apply Now' button?
When you click the 'Apply Now' button you will be asked to provide a resume. The employer will then receive a notification on their homepage indicating that there is a new applicant for the posting they created. This notification contains a link to your profile, which they can view to learn more about you. It will also contain a link to the resume that you submitted. It is then up to the employer to contact you if they are interested in your application. To improve your odds of being contacted, ensure that all your information is up to date.

Q | How can I track the jobs I've applied for?
If you have created an account and logged in, you will be able to see the 'Job Tracker' box on the Jobseeker homepage. Inside this box is a record of all of the jobs that you have applied for including the application deadline and a link back to the job posting for your reference.

Q | How do I know if my resume was received?
Creating an account takes only a few minutes and if you choose to do so, you will be able to track all of your job applications on your homepage after you login. Not only can you track your applications, you will also be notified when an employer has viewed your resume.

Q | Why haven't I heard back about my application?
Every employer is different and will contact applicants in the manner that works best for them. Often, large corporations may contact you via e-mail to acknowledge your application. Smaller companies may opt to phone you. It is possible that employers may not contact you unless they are interested in hiring you or meeting you for an interview.
**Joborilla.ca Tip: It is a good idea to follow-up with your applications to show your interest in the position.

Q | Do I have to register with Joborilla.ca before I apply to a job?
Registering with Joborilla.ca only takes a minute. If you have not already registered and apply to a job, you will be taken to a quick sign-up screen. Enter an e-mail and password to create your Jobseeker account. Once you complete the sign-up, you can continue with your application. Registering with Joborilla.ca will give you access to many features that make it easier to search jobs, track applications, and ultimately find employment!

Q | Do I need a resume to apply to a job posting?
