Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Environmental Assessment Services (EAS) Division as a Project Coordinator (Competition #16-06-0140) in Southern Saskatchewan. 


As Project Coordinator you will be 80% office based and 20% field based. Travel is required but restricted mainly to SE Saskatchewan. Specifically, primary duties will relate to front-end pre-disturbance environmental assessments and environmental monitoring/inspection. You will draft, review and submit all daily field reports, diagrams, site observations as well as make site recommendations.


You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic Team of technical administrators, business development professionals, an in house IT department and many other highly experienced, skilled and educated Professionals. You will report directly to the Regional Manager/Project Manager, EAS.


JOB DUTIES


•Oversight of Summit’s three key operating regions: Lloydminster, Swift Current, and Weyburn for long-term desktop environmental screening program.


•Delegating a varying workload to staff and meeting deadlines.


•Completion of a variety of environmental desktop screenings, as required.


•Preparation and submission of project proposals and regulatory submissions (small email communications to larger scaled Environmental Effects Evaluations).


•Acting as a regulatory liaison between clients and regulators.


•Participation in kickoff meetings and providing continuing support to construction personnel to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with BMPs and regulatory approvals.


•Experience in the completion of a variety of biological surveys, site assessments, environmental monitoring, and reclamation work, as required.


•Cost control and review.


•The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the quality, cost efficiency and timeliness of deliverables. 


REQUIRED SKILLS:


•Experience with provincial baseline ecological assessment (wildlife and vegetation) methodology and criteria (asset).


•Strong interpersonal & leadership skills.


•Previous experience in environmental monitoring.


•Experience completing species at risk surveys and remote sensing.


•Excellent accuracy and attention to detail, organizational, time management, technical writing, and decision making skills.


•Ability to undertake a variety of project related tasks related to EAS.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


•3-5 years’ experience in a biological role - experience in power distribution or transmission would be considered an asset.


•Broad experience and understanding of the Federal and Provincial regulatory framework.


•Ability to represent Summit during discussions with internal and external clients.


•Professional designation (P. Ag, P. Biol, etc.) or willingness to pursue is considered an asset.


EDUCATION:


•A University Degree or College Diploma from a recognized institution – specializing in environmental science, biology, ecology, or related specialization.
